I) What stands out as the best thing about Rwandan culture?
II) How do you relax?
III) How do you study, and where do you go to study?
I.
I love the traditional Rwandan dance, to hear the enchanting songs and to watch the graceful movements of girls. All of that brings back memories of my happiest moments.
II.
Talking with my sisters here at Vietnam Hall [girls’ dorm at NUR] allows me to unwind. Our conversations can touch on any subject: what we’ve done during the day, our courses, our family problems, anything.
When we’re all caught up on each other’s lives, my other preferred restful activities are walking in the flowers by the Butare Cathedral, praying, strolling through the forest, or just sleeping.
III.
Without silence I can’t concentrate, so I visit the library as commonly as a nun visits chapel.
I try to retain information while I read a book. When I finish, I write observations about what seems important.
My class notes play a central role in my studies. Naturally I write in complete, logically organized sentences. And I doubt that many boys have my handsome penmanship. All of this meticulous attention prepares the ground for my study session. I read the notes twice, then go back and memorize.
